While hockey is most predominantly associated with Canada as far as sports go, there are many more types of sporting events and teams to get behind the Great White North.
Like every country, some cities are simply built to be homes for sports fans, where the crowds bleed their teams colors and will stop at nothing to attend a meaningful. Their loyalty knows no bounds.
Here are some of the top Canadian cities that have the best sports teams around.
Calgary, Alberta
Sports enthusiasts will want to check out Calgary homes for sale. There is a legacy of sports here with the hosting of the first Winter Olympic games in Canada in 1988. The Olympic Park still stands, and visitors can fly down the bobsled track or try their hand at the large ski jump.
The Scotiabank Saddledome is home to the NHL’s Calgary Flames. It’s also known as one of the loudest arenas in the league.
McMahon Stadium is where you can catch the Canadian Football Leagues Stampeders.
Though not a sports team, you’ll still see incredible athletes at the 10-day Calgary Stampede which features the best in rodeo.
Toronto, Ontario
This is the mecca for sports lovers in the country. No matter your style, you will find a team here to root for.
NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs are the most noted team in the area, playing at the Scotiabank Arena. The Toronto Rock lacrosse team also plays here.
The Toronto Raptors are the only pro team in the NBA that lives outside the United States. They were championship winners as recently as 2019.
At the base of the famed CN Tower sits Rogers Centre, which has a dome with a retractable roof and is home to the Toronto Blue Jays baseball team.

Montreal, Quebec
Another beloved hockey team has its home here, the Canadiens, who play at the Bell Centre.

One thing Montreal has that’s unique is F1 racing. The Montreal Grand Prix is the biggest sporting event in the country.
Vancouver, British Columbia
This is another place where you can find a team you’ll like no matter what type of sport you gravitate towards.
Nat Bailey Stadium is home to the Vancouver Canadians, a Northwest League baseball team.
BC Place Stadium is where the Vancouver Whitecaps kick a soccer ball around, and the BC Lions of the CFL throw the pigskin around there as well.
Though there is no official rugby team in the area Vancouver is one of the hosts of the Rubgy Sevens tournament annually.
As for hockey, Vancouver has three teams to see. The Vancouver Canucks play at the Rogers Arena downtown.
The Vancouver Giants hit the ice at the Langley Events Centre and the Abbotsford Canucks are the newest team in the area, having formed in the 2021/2022 season.
